Acacia wood and our new barrels (EN)

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of sustainable Acacia barrels for our 2025 concept gin, Spirit of the Creuse. Here, our gin will rest for a carefully set duration, allowing the Acacia wood to infuse delicate hints of vanilla and lemongrass, adding smoothness and depth to its character.

Although commonly called Acacia, the true name of this tree is Blackwood or False Acacia. With its elegant, sprawling branches, the Acacia is a fast-growing tree that can reach heights of over 25 meters (80 feet). Despite its grandeur, it belongs to the same leguminous family as peas and clover, binding it closely to the land.

The tree's white blossoms grow in clusters and have a fragrance reminiscent of orange blossoms. The Acacia flourishes in ideal conditions: temperatures between 18 and 20°C, a slight humidity, and a southern breeze. However, it is delicate! May storms in the Creuse can destroy its blossoms in minutes, reflecting the fragile harmony of nature.

By aging Spirit of the Creuse in Acacia barrels, we honor this balance. The Acacia tree is essential to the bees, who rely on it as a major food source. Our gin captures this connection, celebrating the relationship between local flora and the delicate ecosystem that sustains it.
